Paralympic Sport Club–Breckenridge

Paralympic Sport ClubIn partnership with US Paralympics, the BOEC has established a new program, Paralympic Sport Club–Breckenridge.  The Paralympic Sport Club Program makes it possible for people of all ages with a physical disability to increase independence, improve self-confidence, and to socially integrate themselves through structured individual and team sports. Currently the BOEC is focusing on introducing participants to alpine and nordic skiing, both paralympic sports.

Stephanivictorslalom_dougpensinger_gettyThe BOEC has been awarded the status as a U.S. Paralympic Sport Club (PSC) by the U.S Paralympics. Paralympic Sport Clu–Breckenridge now joins a national network of Paralympic Sport Clubs designed to improve the grassroots level participation in sports for people with physical disabilities. The U.S. Olympic Committee’s Paralympic Division provides the opportunity to use Paralympic marks in promoting the Breckenridge Club, and provides opportunity to co-brand Paralympics with the BOEC. The primary objectives of of Paralympic Sport Clubs include:

As a member of this network of Paralympic Sport Clubs, BOEC will be conducting introductory and developmental clinics and lessons. These activities will give the physically disabled community, their friends, family and colleagues an opportunity to experience the benefits of participating in skiing. We will also facilitate those who wish to pursue competitive skiing to appropriate channels.
